Where I Started
I was getting severe anxiety related to work, causing issues in both my professional and personal life. I was frequently getting distracted at work, struggling to focus, experiencing low productivity, and constantly worrying about what others thought of me and my work. I was generally hating my job.
How it’s helped me
I feel more confident about my abilities at work and more accepting of my struggles. It’s become easier to self-motivate to do work tasks and hobbies, and I found out about body doubling platforms, which I now sometimes use to help. Having less anxiety about work has improved my sleep and overall health. I also made a plan to quit work and applied for a Master’s programme.
Why It Worked for Me
I gained a better understanding of my strengths and how I can use them to support myself at work. I also became more aware of my struggle areas and how I can accommodate them. Kerry also supported me through trying out different strategies, like meditation, adjustments to my morning and night routine, journaling, and using my phone less. Most of what I did (my ‘coaching homework’) was just picked out by me, and also the fact that knowing I had someone to keep me accountable motivated me to do it.
Knowledgable coach
I think being able to work with someone who is knowledgeable about neurodiversity was super important to me. I had some poor experiences in the past working with non-ND-aware professionals who did not understand me and could not suggest effective strategies. With Kerry, I felt understood and heard.
